Dear Members,

The Government has announced its consultation on changes to Disability Living Allowance (DLA). It is proposed to replace DLA with a new benefit called 'Personal Independence Payment'.

The Personal Independence Payment will be a non-means tested, extra costs benefit which aims to help disabled people live full and independent lives.

This consultation is asking about three main areas:

a) Simplification of the purpose and eligibility for the benefit
b) Creating a more objective assessment process for new and exisitng claimants
c) How to prevent the benefit acting as a barrier to employment

NRAS will be responding to this consultation in full but we also need your input to ensure the messages the Government receives strongly reflect the issues which affect people living with rheumatoid arthritis.

Therefore, can I please ask you to take some and complete this questionnaire so that your opinions are heard.

All responses need to be received by February 7th 2011.

You are also able to respond by email or post. The details are below.

1st Floor
Caxton House

Kind Regards
NRAS

Click on the word "Questionnaire" :)
Most links appear in a sort of purple colour unless you have over ridden them in your browser :)

The Questionnaire goes to the NRAS , however if you wish to submit your own response aswell to the consultation the reply addresses and details are in the first post too :)
